Hi All,
just a quick question;
I have a 89 automatic 1275 Rover. I am in the proses of turbo charging it. I bought Turbo HIF carby, Turbo manifold and a Plenum chamber.
Initial measurements shows plenum chamber hits the fire wall. Any one did turbo charge auto 1275 and had this problem or did I measure wrong.

You need a bulk head box to get everything to fit which means you got to cut a big hole & seam weld the box in. There available from many mini spares shops

You probably need to lean the engine forward a bit with an adjustable top steady. When minis changed to HIF type carbs (rather than HS) they moved the engine forward by a few mm.

How much boost are you going to run, not sure an auto will take that much power before it dies...

Did they do a 1275 auto in 89?

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

I thought all the later autos were 1275. I know someone who had a 'Sprite' that was a 1275 auto. That was an Spi though, so later than 89.

As for the plenum hitting the bulkhead, It will be tight, but as Andy says,

Sorry about not giving the full info. Yes you right it is 1275 auto out of a 95 model rover. I am only planing to run about 6 or 7 psi the tops. Plan is to build a rear mount turbo.

We've had this discuaaion before. iirc, the general consensus was that the auto box would be strong enough, but the low (off boost) power might be a problem, something to do with the way the torque converter works. I'm no expert to be honest.
