Good afternoon. I have a recently installed brand new AutoSparks wiring loom, Pt No. AN134 + AN145 & C 813.

I have pretty much everything working however I have a problem whereby when the reverse light sensor is triggered it turns on the front and rear sidelights as well as the rear reverse light...............................?

I have swapped over wires from sensor to the two leads by the gear change housing, under the car and this does nothing, as I expected.

The sensor was initially triggering in 4th which is why I am under there sorting it out.

I have also just noticed that when turning on the sidelights, the red ignition light on the dash also comes on.......?

The car is a 1979 mini 1000. Uk spec.

Check all your earths, especially on the bulkhead and around the boot.

Just to check, I know I have an earth at each rear light, obviously battery, then on the o/s inner wing, engine to o/s inner wing, indicators to the body locally and headlights to earth via loom.

Is that about all?

Yep that's it. If it's a freshly painted shell then double check for clean earths. Without going around the loom testing everything out with a multimeter it's hard to say what's going on!

Yes it is a freshly painted shell. I shall check all earths when I next get in. Failing that, does anyone live local to Cannock that wouldn't mind coming over and having a check through........?

Plenty of brews and biscuits available.

Doncaster, South Yorkshire

sounds like a typical earth problem, there should be an earth on each rear light cluster and then this should connect to the chassis around the fuel tank area

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*
