So its come to the time (especially with current weather conditions) to get some new tires for the seat.

Currently it has pirelli rosso 225 40 18's on which so far have been pretty good. The question is should i go for something different. a lot depends on price to.....

pirelli's = 219 per pair
yokohama parada spec 2 = £220 per pair
toyo t1r's = £210 per pair
michilin sport = £299 per pair
dunlop sport maxx = £225 per pair

Anyone got any experience on the above? apart from the michilin which is a bit out my price range, the others are much of a muchness as far as cost go....

I have used Michelins and they are good, the Dunlop Sport Maxx also get good reviews, but on price from your list I would go for the Pirellis, especially if you know they are OK as you have them at the moment.

i ran the dunlops for ages on the old a4 (same size as you need) but found them very soft and susceptable to sidewall damage from pot holes (got to the point i wore out very few tyres). Started running the Pirellis and never had another issue with them although I thought the dunlops gave a bit more feel to the drive.

As for the michelins, we ran these on the TT (again same size) with no issues although they were expensive when replacing every 12 months (TT tore though tyres at an alarming rate - approx 12-14k miles).

Just replaced all the tyres on the A6 for michelins (245s), replacing the continentals that were on it; this was down to cost and avaialability to be honest although they seem to be ok - big heavy car

what are the seat boys suggesting? I know putting the same tyres on 2 different cars will have 2 differing results

personally, If your happy with what you've got, i'd stick with it

cool, thanks chaps, obviously yoko's don't hold as much of the market as in the mini world then....i shall order up some dunlops or pirellis. thing is with the seat forum there are so many donkeys on there sticking bollocks up its hard to know what to believe, thats why i mostly ask on tm, knowledge is everything!

Heh, I thought the Yoko's would have been a good tyre.

Shows what little option there is for the mini as they are the only tyre I would consider for mini.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

I have the Yokos on my 205, they are more than OK for what they cost in the size it uses, but 195-50-15 is a cheap tyre size to buy.

I had them on the evo and were horrendus. Put goodyears on and it transformed the car. Younger bro had them on his 240hp ibiza and wa crap on that. Yes they arnt that dear to buy but for sililar money id go with the toyos. Missus has them on her astra vxr and had them on a few other things and there good. They tend to be better on lighter cars tho.
