Anyone any ideas on a UK supplier, like the one in these pictures

but just the fitting, without the bit of tube.

I've tried eBay, Google at large, can't find anything in the UK, only push-in fittings, not barbed push-over.

I must be doing something wrong, 4mm is a common size...

EDIT - not just a common size for pressure sensors but boost guages, anything similar...

You might want to check hobby shops for radio controlled airplane accessories.

Rob, I've tried RS, Farnell, all the usual suspects as well as all sorts of instrument suppliers but they were all for push in rigid tubing, not push over soft tubing.

And yes Jean, I did find one nearly right from a model aeroplane supplier - apparently for jet fuel !!!! but it was in brass (plastic will do for me) and was only 3mm, not 4mm

How about going to your local air fittings supplier?

This would do the trick.

Matty,

That's the push-in type, they only work for semi-rigid tubing and are too large for me as they work on the OD of the tube.

And there is no such thing as a "local" supplier in rural Suffolk :) :) :)

Rob, yes, I saw that one - but I can't find it in straight......

Thanks all for trying though :)

I was planning on using Festo fittings:

Not sure if it fits you.
Not cheap but I can get these at work.
Could send some in an enveloppe, not sure what that would cost though.

Dazed and Confused....

Eldon James makes them in the states and can be ordered from amazon.com.

Search for Eldon James. Nuts are seperate!

Checked uk distributor (medical) only only sell in bags of 100!

Only source I have found so far. Been through the tom parker cataloge cover to cover

That would be about 4mm on both sides: http://tubingandfittings.eldonjames.com/it...1624-2-5-2-5-bn?

Thanks all,

Yo-Han, the Festo ones are easy to get over here but work on the OD of semi-rigid tube. I need barbed fittings for the inside of soft tube.

Shellspeed/Jean, yes ideal but not on the UK market (well not less than 100 at a time...)

I've ordered some brass hexagon bar and dug some of the snow away from the garage door.....

Rod the push fittings will work with soft tube. What size OD hose have you got?

Matty, it's "standard" 4mm ID silicon tube so the OD is about 8mm.

A "push-in" fitting would be enormous *happy*

Air logic is the only place I can find but they are in the US. There will probably be a minimum order though. *oh well*

Or this place does metal ones.

Then use 4mm nylon tubing instead of the rubber. Or if you must use rubber in places, push your 4mm ID rubber over the outside of the 4mm OD nylon.

Simplez.

TBH, I like using the nylon tubing and push fittings. The connections are strong, fast, and very re-usable. Ive a lot of pressure lines done with them now. Much easier than rubber hoses.

Stevie, I had thought of that but the semi-rigid stuff isn't really suitable in an engine bay, it goes soft in heat and kinks if you try to put sharp bends in it.

And before you say it :) yes, a lot of OEM stuff uses it but usually on fuel only (cooled by the fuel), and where it is on air, it allways has flexible rubber/silicon joins at the ends and is usually the "black" version of the nylon which is very hard to get hold of, and all the bends are pre-formed at the factory........

But I can't disagree with you in that it's worth a try if I can't do anything else.

Rod, the equipment i work on day to day runs at 180 degrees + and and long as you use the right stuff your fine. Im sure ive got a reel of 6mm od hose in the car that i cut a piece off that your welcome to try? Silicon hose also fits in the push fit connectors.

My MAP signal, dump valve, FPR signal etc are all using 4mm nylon tubing. ( well, BOV uses 6mm )

If you're engine compartment ever gets ho enough to damage them, good chance the car is on fire.

Obviously you wouldnt route the line directly close to a hot turbo or manifold though. But then you wouldnt do that with soft rubber or silicone hoses either.

If you need a sharp bend, just by a 90deg fitting. Or a little heat will allow you to bend the pipe a bit tighter. The 4mm stuff is pretty flexible though.

Certainly Ive never experienced it going soft anywhere Ive used it.

And that really could be misinterpreted lol.
