Hi,
I'm trying to time my camshaft. I have a swiftune duplex kit with 7 keyways in the small sprocket wheel. Can anyone tell me how this practically works. With dot to dot it is about 112 degrees. My camshaft should be 108 degrees. At the moment it's way to cold for trial and error, there should be a logical solution :)
Thanks!

What cam should be 108?
Trial and error is the way with these

I seriously doubt it!

I think I've got the instructions for this at home. Let me see this weekend.

That's exactly the duplex kit I have!

I think did some math.
small sprocket wheel; 20 teeth, 18 degrees per tooth
aproximately 40 degrees between the keyways.
Example. Mounted center keyway and dot to dot. Timing 110 degrees.
1 keyway CCW: timing 110 - 40 = 70 degrees
2 teeth CW: timing 70 + 2x18 = 106 degrees.

If this math is right i'm able to set the timing from the center keyway and dot-to-dot 4,6,8,10,12,14 degrees positive and 4,6,8,10,12 degrees negative. But going from 110 to 108 degrees doesn't seem to work....

Am I doing the math right?

@ Vegard: I would like to see what's in your instructions!

Paul, you know this as good as anyone. The reason for buying such a timing kit is to not use an offset keyway.

Why are you doing any maths ?

You dont install the cam based on maths alone. You install it based on actual measurements relative to TDC and cam lift.

Not from maths on where you think it should be. Even more important with adjustable gear.

Of course I will do actual measurements!I'm doing maths because it's way to cold to try all possible positions of the chain and the keyway.
So set it up dot-to-dot --> measure --> calculate + adjust --> measure -->OK!
