In this picture, check carefully for cracks in the casting between the wastegate hole, and the turbine housing. I have seen many Metro T3's cracked here, it is quite common.

Wire brush the area off well and have a close look! If there are no cracks you are lucky and have a good casing!

pic don;t work mate,. I've used turbo's with a crack in for ages without problems

Yeah? I had a few to sort through so I made sure I picked the best to have rebuilt.

Anyway might be useful info to someone.......

obviusly better not to have cracks, but not the end of the world if you do have some

if you think about the temperature gradient between the turbine exit and the wastegate hole then its not suprising really *smiley*
