i need to change the timing chain the engines in situ and ive removed nearside engine mount crank damper and chain cover Crystal Sound Audio said:

How have you got the cam timing set up in the first place? If it was just the dot-to-dot method then its only really a good guess at what it should be anyway. You should line the dots on the wheels up before you remove the chain. Also usually worth backing the tappets right off as far as they will go so there is no load on any cam lobes trying to push the cam round.
