I have a brand new fuel pressure reg fitted, but when the pump is on the fuel return pipe pulses quite bad, the fuel pressure gauge flickers up and down with it too, pretty sure there is no kinks or bends in the pipes? Also when I came to run the car it would run for a few seconds (<5secs) then cut out is, is my reg. Knackered? Any ideas?

If you take the reg out of the equation does the pump run constant?

If not then it could be your pump.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

That's something to try, it sounds ok, I shall put the gauge into the fuel in pipe before the reg see what the gauge says.

What does the pump sound like ? And just exactly how much is the fuel pressure changing by ?

The pump sounds ok, just a constant buzz, then after a couple of seconds you start to hear it pulsing at the reg, and it from memory if flicks 2-3psi.

try winding it up to about 10psi, you should hear the pitch of the fuel pump change, if it stops the pulsing wind it down untill it starts again
what size fuel lines does it have?
could be as the pressure reg purges of the excess fuel the pressure drops too fast and it stops purging then starts/stops over and over
as i said earlyer at yours mine did this the other day after you came round mine tuned out to be an air lock of some sort

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

Make sure the return isnt blocked/restricted.

To double check, pull the return pipe off the reg and put somthing underneath to catch the fuel and try .
