What does everyone have??

Ive been looking at those foam tiles at costco (think gr4h4m has them) but im not sure how durable they will be, especialy if i have a jack or axel stands in there.

I have got some floor paint at work i could do it with but was trying to find somthing that might be a bit easyer on the knees .lol
I have seen more of the plastic type tiles but there more than id like to spend to be honest.??

Any thaughts

My floor is just concrete screed finish, and If I am on knees I have an old padded car creeper I rest on with some House Removal blankets, or if I am on my back I am on a newer car creeper,

I use to have carpet underneath and office lay down floor tiles on top but just found they absorbed the moisture and stayed damp/wet, but I suppose this all comes down to the environment and general ambient temperature of you garage.

What is it you at after from the floor?

-Hard wearing
-Comfortable to work on
-Clean

I've got carpet tiles. They do absorb all the spilt stuff, but I like em.

Concrete with a 2'x2' piece of carpet for kneeling on, and sone old kitchen worktop to sit the engine on, not the best but good enough.

Use the search function before buying stuff from me...

stoke on trent

workshop..concrete, rubber paint and 20x12 piece of cheap red carpet, also with about 20 pieces of test carpet, for kneeling on..
you know when you go carpet shopping they have the foot square cut offs as examples, they sell these for £1...
in the garage jst have bare concrete, that sucks....

Vinyl safety flooring (the stuff in supermarket bogs) whch is OK with jacks, axle stands etc and easy to mop/clean and then old gym mats for kneeling/lieing on.
Gym mats in front of the workbench for standing on too - suprising how much less tiring (and warmer) it is to stand on something!

This sort of stuff:

Floor paint first (makes wiping up oil easier):

Rubber matting in front of the work bench (much more comfortable to stand on), with carpet off cuts from when the house was redone and theshell was sat on the floor:

When (if!) its on its wheels, the carpet will be going.
As already mentioned, it soaks up any spillage, and I wouldn't do any welding obviously (if I end up welding fibreglass things have got a bit drastic).
I do have some carpet squares which I move around when I need to move things from one place to another - I seem to remember these being quite cheap.
In the shed I've got the off cuts of lino from the bathroom, it's good for the shed but I wouldn't use the jack on it, or use axle stands.

at my parents i painted the floor then carpet which was fine, just had another bit at the front of the car to soak up the oily bits.
my garage now has floor paint then these
http://www.eco-tile.net/ecotile/loose-lay-tile-product/

i work as a floorlayer, so we just happened to have enough 'damaged' ones left over on a job. they take oil, jacks, axle stands brake fluid heavy things getting dropped etc

They do look nice nick but not a £500 to do the garage lol.

Think i might just paint the floor for the moment and dig the carpet off cuts out of the loft.

I epoxied my floor. Definitely makes cleaning up any type of liquid a much easier proposition!

My garage was carpeted when we moved in. Took it up eventually. Got bored of it setting on fire when welding and soaking up every drip of oil. Was cold and damp in the winder...

Also the pattern was horrid. Clashed with the upside down skip...

A bit of topic from the op but what do you paint the floor with? Mine is oily and tatty and could do with a spruce up.

Floor paint isn't that expensive really. Mine has lasted 5yr of quite heavy use at times, it is getting ready for doing again now really.

I'm gonna paint mine soon.

Anyone recommend a specific floor paint? Also should I PVA it first?

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Definitely PVA first. 50-50% mix PVA and water mixed, then just get a cheap broom and sweep it out.

I used Cold degreeser and then applied 2-3 Fiats of epoxi With à pretty long haired roller, wasn't overly pedantic just whip it on, looks ace and garage is so much brighter
