Does or has anyone used these tyres with a rear beam or subby? I was wondering if these will fit or wether a custom rear setup would be needed.

Cheers paul

I have they will hit the radius arm, but the application of a grinder will remade that.

I did do a calculation a few years ago and determined that the distance from the centre of the hub to the radius arm bracket was 28cm

A 185/60x13 setup would be 27.61cm radius, so would be very, very close

As Mr Joshua says, use a grinder to remove a few millimetres from the bracket

Remember that as the wheel/tyre spins faster, it will grow in total height, so make sure you have at least 2+ millimetres gap to compensate

You could use 185/55x13 tyres instead, which are 26.68cm radius

As a comparison, a 175/50x13 has a radius of 25.26cm

To work it out yourself follow these points:-

1. 13 inch wheel times by 2.54 = 33.02cm (1 inch is 2.54cm)
2. 185/60 tyre is 185mm divided by 100, times by 60 = 111mm side wall height = 11.1cm

33.02cm plus 11.1cm plus 11.1cm = 55.22cm total height of wheel and tyre

55.22 divided by 2 = 27.61cm radius

EDIT - all the figures above are based on exact sizes, and do not take growth, tyre deflection and differing tread depths in to the equation

I've thought about this before as Toyo do some road legal track tyres similar to A048s that are considerably cheaper!

Where on the radius arm does the interference occur? I only ask as if it's on the radiused transition between the lateral "pivot" section and the longitudinal "arm", would a wheel with a large offset gain you some clearance? Or use of a spacer?

If the interference is against the pivotting section of the arm then of course moving the tyre laterally will make no difference. Adding a picture would've helped with this but I'm on my phone!

The scrub will occur at the outer mounting bracket and for the full width of the tyre.
