What route would everyone suggest going for?

Currently I'm looking at the mirage set (I have a T2), but £350 is rather a lot of money..

I have heard someone on here makes manifolds for the T2?

And my final option is to make them myself, with absolutely no previous experience with welding, I know someone with a welder, but thats about it. I've read the guides on here in the FAQ section, and it looks like with a bit of practice it's do-able. Is there anything special required for the exhaust manifold? whether its TIG or MIG welded? Also, how much would it cost to make? (roughly)

Cheers

It's not rocket science. You can tig or mig it. Tig is easier if you can tig weld. I made mine for about £60. One set of head flanges - about £20, two bends, foot of pipe, I made the turbo flange. You need to build it on a jig to make sure the head flanges stay in the right place while you weld it. Apart from that it's just basic fabrication and attention to detail.

The ones made professionally by people on here and mirage look great, but you do pay a premium for the time of the expert making it.

I thought as much, but I didnt realise you would be able to do it yourself for so much less?

I'll have to speak to said friend and ask about borrowing the welder :) I'll at least give it a shot *tongue*

Does anyone happen to have/know the dimensions of the mirage kit? Or at least the tolerances for the turbo not to hit the bulkhead?
