I personally wouldn't drill any holes in the pedals, They bend easy enough as it is without having weak points to bend at!

how much does a 6 point cage and door bars roughly weigh? Just thinking about what would have to be removed weight wise to neutralise the fitting of one.

one day boost will be mine!

Pedals : obviously one would better not drill the arm but the pad is safe.
Weight saving is marginal though, would not make up for a few £ in coins or a fancy belt buckle ...

Did you see Minimania 7 port alloy heads are on sale at 1250$ for the bare head, that is a good weight saving and a proper way to boost power to weight ratio too !

Rear subframe stripped weighs 15kg, IIRC the front is the same. Radius arms also weigh nearly that each.

I wouldn't want to risk drilling the brake pedal, not worth the few grams IMO, I'm saving a lot of weight in my build and considered the pedals but need to keep safety paramount.

Okay I won't drill the pedals then :) and ill run standard raduis arms for now then till I can afford a set of kad ones And ill put a few holes in the rear subframe and front, also got front ploy mark 1 style windows for the front so can lose few off the doors don't want it too light just lose a bit.

What are say the top 5mods in terms of weight loss, and also ease and simplicity? of doing so?

I am wanting to make a start this year on dropping some weight, but just quick simple jobs as it does not require a rebuild just yet.

My front end needs spraying so st the mo Im thinking of grp front, grp bootlid, cutting off rear seat overhang, eventually some force racing wheels.

Im always saying it, but the sound deadening on the floor and bench saves a good amount, and costs nothing but a bit of hard work.

I already took all the sound deadening off the floor, but still got it on the rear bench, maybe a job for the weekend.

Plastic windows maybe an option

I'd say the top 5 best savings taking into consideration cost (and not couting just stripping things out) are:

1: polycarb windows
2: Cutting out door inner skins and fitting aluminium skins (obviously you need to reomve the winder mechanism etc too
3: Beam conversion
4: Fitting a fibreglass front
5: Lightweight battery

There are soo many other ways to save weight, but they are 1kg or less here and there.

I saved nearly 10kgs swapping my wellers for some mambas too, which was one of the biggest savings and easiest to do.

If i was doing it again id have:
CF front end
CF doors
CF boot
Polycarb windows
Beam axle.

Doors are a big weight saving

I will be getting some force wheels in due time, probably 12x6, I would love some 10" but I've just bought some kad 8.4" brake set up.

Big dish 10" clear 8.4 brakes i belive.
i agree with matty about easy weight saving, i myself have been thinking about a fg front end instead of the steel one but not all of them fit well *frown*
even things like excess wireing, rear door cards ect weigh a fair bit if your not using it then get rid of it *smiley*

I had KAD 6 pots on mine and 8.4" vented disks and they fit under a force 10" wheel.
