I have been trying to pipe up my intercooler and to do a nice job I need some 30 degree and 60 degree bends. I have found some expensive 60 degree bends (merlin) but no others.

Does anybody know where I can get either aluminium bends or silicon bends at these angles. All the pipes are around 60mm by the way.

Cheers

Ben

I've made up templates in 2" steel pipe and am taking them to a local exhaust fabricator to bend up the final job

It's a shame that all the normal companies (some listed above) and all the others I have looked at only do 45, 90, 135 and 180 bends. Nothing in between. Getting someone to make some ally ones seems the best option if i want it to look nice.

Will a 45 not have enough give in it to do the job?

You can turn a 90 mandrel bend into a 60 by cutting it at the right bit on the bend and adding a straight bit, then grind the weld flat if you want it to look pretty.

I have looked at it again now and seem to have my angles slightly wrong so I will have another go at guessing what I need tonight.

I think that a 45 might do it, but it is never ideal to streach them too much.

If you rotate the 45deg one, you can easily achieve a 60deg bend.

If that makes sense?

If you cut the edge off at an angle it will alter the angle of the bend also, I had to do this on mine.

It seems that the answer to my question is NO. Nobody off the shelf supplies 60 and 30 degree bends for what I want.

Thanks for all the advice above. I know that I can get it connected up and running with all sorts of weird and wonderful techniques, but I know how I want it to look so I am trying to do it right.

The update is that I have turned my intercooler round the other way and now two 45s will work perfect and the other side works with a 90. So all sorted.

That, Ben, is fucking genius. I can't believe it's taken this long to think of it!

How long were you standing and staring at it before the nugget of an idea formed?

Bloody ages. I need to cut out some fibreglass and re-glass in the intercooler, but that won't take long tonight.

Just ordered everything I need for the intercooler and radiator. Including a bit of ally pipe it came to over 130 notes. Still it should look god and it it quarter of the price of samco stuff. It should look nice anyway.
