may be worth having it checked how long was it running for could just be a dodgy gasket. I just got one of the black fibre ones from mini spares they come with a 3 year warranty and are replaced if blown.

Done now needs redoing lol

Oh poopsicles!

would it be worth having the head skimmed, nothing serious, just enough to be sure it is perfectly flat. A Gnats dick is the technical term here. In an ideal world you'd want to do the block too, but it depends how far you'd want to go with the whole thing I suppose.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I will run a straight edge over the block to see it there is anything however I don't want to pull that too if I can get away with it.

The car did still pull well which is strange.

Yep I don't think the correct clamping load was on the head. I have ordered a new stud kit. Maybe I never went to the correct figure.

I had that type of gasket on my 1275, and that did the same thing after a very low mileage, you need a ( BK450) head gasket, that’s what I was told, I’ve put one on my turbo engine but not had it running yet.. Alan

You can't run them on a 998

Well I have cleaned everything up and stuck a new stud kit on and shelled out on one of these bad boys.

While I was there I shimed up the rocker pedestals to make sure at 1/2 lift the valve stems were inline with the middle of the rocker shaft.
