ok, this is going to sound a bit strange but im halfway through building my 998 turbo engine but i never really knew if it was an A+ engine or not, i dont know all that much when it comes to engine models but after reading the "mini magazine" yesterday i work'd out it must be pre A+.............. should i be concerned? Should a Pre A+ engine be ok for turboing? Also what are the differences between the two engines performance and strength wize? 998 turbo |

Nothing.... The only practical difference, is that A+ rod bolt are press type fit, whereas the A uses circlips On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:

Hey Vegard, Isn't it only some A+998 use press-fit? I recall the majority used circlips??? On 17th Nov, 2014 Tom Fenton said:

I agree, all the A+ 998 motors I've seen have the later slipper pistons. However, I used these and they didn't last. The earlier cir-clip fit pistons have lasted so far.

i have an a+ 998 block sitting in my garage with a 1/2" grove down one of the bores. I beg to differ on the fact that they are all press fit. Block came from a circa 85 car, unsure on originality of the engine. I've seen the future and tbh its Pie
