Don't worry about it. Your wheels will hold the drum in place. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

As above, the screw is pretty pointless.

The drum won't come off until your wheel does and in that case, you've got bigger problems..... |

when you tighten the wheel nuts it tightens onto the drum. the screw does nothing really. |

I've got the same hubs, no problems, don't drill and tap them you could weaken the hubs, there is no need Patina=old and knackered and won't clean up |

I've never had any drum that was so lose that it fell off once the wheel was removed. Which is the point of that screw I'd guess :)

The only thing the screw is really useful for is holding the drum on and square when you are adjusting the rear brakes. If you are that worried pop a hole in and tap it, and fit a countersunk screw.

As Tom points out; I'd got round this by temp fitting a couple of wheel nuts to clamp the drum and allow the brakes to be adjusted correctly without a wheel in the way. |

I've always left them out. Mind, I generally destroyed a few that had corroded to the drum with knackered heads! On 19th Jan, 2010 wil_h said:
