Good question!

Ive found aluminium warehouse are good prices compared to others. But postage can price it out for large sheets. Aalco are a nation wide supplier, but the one near me are bloody unhelpful which is annoying as they are right on my doorstep.

Im amased how difficult it is to find a reasonably priced reliable supplier. *oh well*

Another vote for metal supermarket. But only good is there is one locally.

Check your Yellow Pages for metal stockholders etc. Bound to be one fairly local.

The problem is finding one that will deal with you for the small quantities we are likely to want. There are lots round here, but they are only really interested if you want a tonne of steel bars or 8x4' sheets.

I really struggled to find anything local that would do me single sheets of steel etc...

Ive an Aalco just down the road, they supply all manner of aluminium and stainless. Only stipulation they have is min £25 spend

Although they dont always enforce it. Only takes a few items to go beyond that anyway

Haha that shouldn't be too difficult I got quoted £85 + vat for a 2 X 1m sheet of 1.5mm aluminium.

Sounds expensive! In sheet form, its approx' £2.70/kg + vat. I haven't done much quoting at work recently for an exact price. We normally use Aalco or Thyssens

That's mental. A while back I needed some 1mm Aluminium. I ended up buying two 8'x4' sheets simply because a single sheet would still have been £25

I'd expect that sort of price for a sheet of stainless, but no way aluminium
