Jamie, go to your local paint shop and ask them about there cartridge air fed masks.

I bought one a while back, the mask is reusbale and the cartridges clip onto the front, when you take the catridges out of there bags they begin releasing the air. When you finished pop them in a zip bag and they will stop.

Its cost me about £35 iirc.

Worked well too, i used it to prime the tangerine but ill be using it again when i paint the daily driver.

Cheers

Hey Mike,

Thanks for the post, i'll have an ask around in them, struggling to find anywhere local I can buy Cellulose paints from as well though, really wanna see some swatches of what colors i can get.

Not sure if Machinemart sell a mask which is adequate and the right rating for me to spray Cellulose and Hammerite, want to make sure i am protecting the lungs *smiley*

You should be able to get any colour mixed in cellulose - have you tried Google for suppliers or even Ebay ?

Whilst its a good idea to use a mask for any kind of spraying I dont think you need air fed for cellulose or Hammerite.

I rarely use a a mask at all for cellulose, but I dont have your expectation of life !!

Just paint it in 2k, its alot easier to paint i find and is much easier to get a finish with. If your only painting 1 car and you do it in a well ventilated area the mask ive decribed will be well up to the job.

make sure your compressor is up to the task as well; the combination of an airfed mask and spraygun is a fair consumption.

Personally, I'd use a cartridge mask as Mike suggests

You can spray Celly without an airfed mask, you just need a decent respirator mask.

However Celly is not what it used to be, the durability is shocking now, talking to my paint factor man it is down to recycled base materials or something, in any case I won't use it any more.

2 pack needs the proper mask, but as Mike says, its much easier to get a finish, it covers better, and it is also very durable.

Are you wanting an acctual air fed mask or just the cartridge type like mikes suggested.
As rob says an air fed mask is just that the compressor feeds it with air and most home conpressors dont usually cope with runnig that aswell as a spray gun!

Hey All, sorry for delayed replies been sat in the cinema watching the new film Safe House, descent film.

Hi Tadge – Thanks for comments, I have briefly looked on eBay and Google, have thought about getting a colour mixed up but don’t know how much of a pain this could be in the future trying to match the colour again….. ?

Hi Mike – I haven’t looked into 2k, I haven’t looked into paints with a lot of detail yet, just been told and led to believe that cellulose was the easiest DIY paint to spray, that’s all the info I am going on at the moment having never done it before, but am open to feedback and peoples comments on this *smiley*

Hi Rob – I have two 150ltr Compressors for the spraying feed in the workshop and have my old 150ltr compressor which I sold to a neighbour I still have access to this and planned to use it if I did go down the route of using an Air fed Mask, and of course keeping the Mask Air feed compressor outside and away from the spraying with a fresh air source*smiley*

Hi Tom – Cheers for your comments as well, thanks for the heads up with Celly not being what it use to be, I really am only just starting to scratch the surface on what I am going to do in regards to spraying, but want to get a good idea of where I am going with it as hoping to do it Easter weekend as I have 6 days off, That’s the Plan anyway.

Hi Cossierick – I thought I would just put the feelers out to see if anyone had an air fed mask which the compressor feeds kicking about they didn’t require any more? I mean I won’t be using it on a regular basis so i am not looking at spending mega bucks on one but at least by having one I am future proofing myself in the respect that I have the correct rated breathing apparatus for spraying.
