Hi All

Ive just bought another Mini and its an 88 Red Hot which has seen most of its life in the garage or doing sprint events

It first owner had the car converted by Janspeed although i dont know what that actually included. There is a small silver Janspeed sticker on the wings and a Powered by Janspeed sticker on the bootlid. There is also an original Janspeed Turbo key ring on the keys.

The chap i bought it off said the engine wasnt particularly great so he had pulled it out and flogged it on in the early nineties.

Its now fitted with a freshly rebuilt 1293 from a 1990 1275 Cooper but I would love to find out its Janspeed history.

So can anyone elighten me on the conversions that were done?

As far as I know there was only one Mini Turboed by Janspeed & that's a Clubman. All the other conversions were Metros.
I have a complete Janspeed Turbo engine & Jan Cristian has the Clubman, he's the guy you need to speak to he's done loads of research, spoken to old Janspeed employees etc

There were plenty of NA conversions done. Are you sure yours was a Turbo ? Or are you just thinking it was because of the keyring ?

No its more than possible it wasnt a turbo and my guess is that it would have been a NA but the original owner bought the keyring.

From the Video Colin posted it seems that is exactly what my car has had done al be it the engine is now missing. I have exactly the same suspension set up as they show in the video including the rear anti roll bar and also Kad rear drums.

What would be the likelyhood of me getting hold of a NA engine?
