I'm far off building the 1098 for my estate but though it might be a good idea to start scrounging together the bit I need for it. Seen as I've got the time I'm thinking of de-stressing the crank myself but thought I'd seek a little guidance here before I dive in but just 2 main questions really.

1.What is you prefered tool & abrasive for the job? I'm thinking my 90 degree and straight die grinders with 75MM roloc discs and 20MM flap wheels should do the job?

2.How do you protect the journals and thrust faces during the working proses? My first thought was to cable tie an old set of bearing over them but failing that I guess taping them heavily would work.
