Hi Chaps,
Sorry this is a bit of an amateur question but its bin about 12 years since i had to play with a mini engine with a dizzy on!

My latest Mini is running a 1293cc engine with hepolite slipper pistons (high compression ones) a single HIF44 carb and electronic dizzy.

The engine was fresh built with the only mileage on it being the 300 miles i put on it in collecting the mini.

I think the engine was from a early 90's cooper but the engine number begins with 1300 and the original plate has been removed. The number must refer to either a Swiftune (as they did the machining work) or Gerald Dale as they dropped the engine in.

The engine hasnt been on the rollers yet to be prioperly set up but just from having checkied it over i have noticed that the vacuum advance is connected on the dizzy but that the unit must be fooked as a little suck shows that its just letting air pass straight through.

the question, is do i need to fix it?

Have tried the search function but found no defenitive answer
Thanks
Andy
