After reading about a potential issue following a rolling road tune, I thought id ask this as I am going to SRE this Friday - I trust that Neil will do a very good intelligent tune.

However - I'm a little unsure of the boost threshold my engine can withstand...

I don't want a failed ring, ring land, HG etc.

I've got a copy of the boost vs compression chart...

But people here run 20psi plus without issue...

My engine is;

1293 with 10Cc cast omega's
Med FIS head 28cc chambers
Pistons 1mm down bore
Cr calculated at 8.01:1 with bk450
11 studed block all 3/8"
Avonbar phase 2 cam
Centremainstrap
Arp Conrod bolts
Rts clutch and rally plate
SCCR box and drops
Bpr7es plugs...
Audi tt intercooler
Oil cooler

Thanks in advance, Al

With that CR and cam I'd say running 24 deg advance on boost will be safe. Not sure what boost you are looking at but 15psi will be fine.

What turbo have you got, I loose track, I'm guessing GT17

We stuck 25psi+ into the van's engine on 8:1. It took it all day long. Gasket, bores and pistons where perfect when we took it apart.

Yes wil, gt17.

So many people jumping on the band waggon!!!

I was hoping 20-22psi! Did you acheive your 173bhp with 20 or 25psi Andy?

The 173 was achieved on 17psi. Fuck knows what it was doing on 25psi apart ruining my underwear on the way to MITP.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

25 psi is a bit scary on the road, but good fun on the strip...

Hahaha!! Well it's interesting at 10psi - rather a lot of torque steer, can't imagine what 25 would be like! Fun though I'm guessing!

I have a dual stage boost controller and was going to have 15psi at stage one and 20/22psi stage two...

We had a valve on the bleed line. Wheel mounted switch flicked between 7psi and 25... We needed that to get it of the line without masses of wheel spin.

With it set up well on 8:1 20-22psi is fine, iirc nick on here runs around that boost on 8.7:1

Yep. My next engine will be higher compression. Something around the 8.7:1 marker.

Yeah i'm running 20psi on 8.7:1, my advance is 22 degree's across every slot when on boost. I did bump it up and down a bit when on the rollers before but it didn't make any difference so have just left it as is.
