A gt15 seems like a good turbo to use. What is required to fit one in place of the T3 that comes stock on the Metro turbo motor? Could I attach this directly to a Mirage manifold or the stock manifold? I believe they use a T2 style flange...

pls see the link to see the exact info on the turbo

thanks!

i've looked at these before from this place

http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merchant...gory_Code=GTNBB

i decided against it in the end, and went for an older T-series unit.

if the 1 your looking at is the same as the from atp turbo (ie. petrol version and same A/R etc, same bolting arrangement for the exhaust inlet) then it will fit the mirage exhaust manifold, however the exhaust elbow from mirage will not fit as the bolting arrangment is completely different, i guess you could get something fabricated, just something to be careful of

They are the same turbo.

What made you decide against using one? Was it mostly an issue of cost? I'm sure in the UK a T2 is much easier to come by than a GT15. Here in the US small sized turbos aren't easy to find. Actually, they consider a T3 a small turbo around here! So as you might know, the allure of an inexpensive AND new turbo is hard to pass.

it was 2 minor things really, i wanted to use 1 of the v-band exhaust outlets from atpturbo which bolt straight onto a T25 exhaust, and also i didn't want the turbo running out of puff to early in the rev range so i found a turbo with a slightly large A/R

another thing was i thought the gt15 was a ball bearing turbo, but then found out it was only plain journal. Then i looked at the gt28's that were ball bearing, but all they do the exhaust housings in is .64 which i reckon will be to big

i'd give it a whirl, someone needs to get using these gt'series of turbo's some time!

I will be using a VNT15 on mine which is very similar to gt15 apart from the exhaust housing which uses variable nozzles rather than a waste gate. I have only ever heard of these turbos being uses on petrol engines a few times and no one says how long for. I may have problems witht the vane siezing with the high temps of petrol engine as it is designed for diesel engines.

Having said that if I dont ry it i will never know if it works. If it does it will be great. Lots of boost at low RPM ideal for a every day run about on moderate boost levels.

I will be mounting my turbo in the Janspeed stlye setup, over the clutch housing.

Soon be on the road will be buliding the engine this week so I will let you know how it goes.

*oh well*

May be with a big band if the vanes get stuck on full boost setting lo *surprised*

I can make you some flanges fit it mate in 10mm mild steel or probably 8mm stainless

Just an offer if you some when you come to making it fit!!
