Hey all,

I am looking into Mini Rollover jigs at the moment, I am considering fabricating my own, has anyone done this before ?

It doesn't look all that complicated to make, well, given time and patience.

If anyone has any tips or pics of ones they have done I would be more than thankful.

I'm not looking for something pretty, just something that works that I can roll the shell over to paint and run the brake/fuel lines in etc :)

If i was making another frame myself, I'd adapt the ones shown so the front steps down under the front panel so the bonnet can be fitted/ closed to allow for alignment of the front end. Having said that, I'd probably want to fit the front subby to fit the front end as well - back to the drawing board for me!

I got some ideas from the following links:

http://minimikebc.tripod.com/rotiss.html

http://www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/index...6&hl=spit&st=15

I needed to replace the rear arches so couldn't use these as a mounting point. I used the parcel shelf but that does make it bottom heavy and a bit tougher to flip over.

Brilliant guys, cheers for all the links and the pics, Keep them coming *smiley*

The frame I think I will be ok with, working on a building site on the southcoast at the moment and should be able to score my self load of scaffold fixings for that.

Its Just the Mounting plates / bars to the car its self i need to look into.

My shell doesnt have the hole on the rear bulkhead so i decided to mount off the subframe and shock points.

I managed to get the balance point just right so you can spin the shell with one finger.

Home made.
Especially if no holes are in the shell for the usual 1 piece of pipe through the bulkhead and/or backseat, depending on model or year of build.
Universel for length, usable for my saloon, estate, van and pick up.[and proven!]
Currently used for my brother's '71 clubman.*happy*
It's even a fair bit on the heavy side, but the steel was for free at work..
It's on 4 steering wheels,so easy parking.
Used for working on the shell, sandblasting, and even spraying the underside of the shell.

It's a little car .... eating big money

Hey all,

Well after speaking to a friend, found out that one of his mates had a Mini Rollover Jig,

This is as I bought it for £30

I had to mod it a bit so the scaffold bar went over the higher crossbar from where the Clubman Bonnet closes down on higher than a roundnose, was no major, just stepped up the rear bar in the boot with a length of Unistrut, for the front I had to step it up as well, I have temporarily done this with some timber, and clamped it to see how it would all roll, works fine as it is, but Monday when I get back to work I am going to speak to the Sprinkler guys working for me on the building site and get some heavy duty threaded bar and clamp it all down properly.

The scaffold at the front is tying the crossbar to the main pole so it can be rotated all together, at the back I knocked up a bit of scaffold clamping which will then lock it when it is in position and a bar which helps rotate it.

When it has had a lick of paint an tidied up it will be fine, its practical and it works, cheers for all your messages and pics helping out.
