Hiya i am collecting parts for my project and am planning on using a 12g940 head to turbo. I know that the original turbo head had sodium filled exhaust valves but i think the inlets were standard. the head im going to use has standard inlets and exhaust do you guys recommend i change the exhaust valves for some decent EN214n spec valves (or similar) or should i change the lot. Thanks for your time james My small bore turbo project http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php?p=vt&tid=473901 |

These sodium filled valves are not needed, you would be better off getting a fully modded head with combusion chambers reshaped with 26 to 28 ccs in there to lower the compression ratio, so you can run alot more boost,

Cheers for the reply. Im on a tight budget (as always lol) and i do like to port my own heads. i will be opening it up as required de shroud the valves a little and wast back around the inlet guide but just flow around the exhaust guide for heat transfer. will i get away with just changing the exhaust valves to a higher grade or will the inlets suffer too. Standard road spec inlets will be fine. I'd stick the stainless exhausts running in bronze guides in there for good measure though.

If you can find a MG Metro head and change the exhaust valves only. Your only smudge of a mill smaller for max safe valve size if memory serves. If your on a budget it's worth thinking about. Own the day
