It all started when I sold my Subaru. With that gone all I had was the Sprint. No problem, it was running fine and I had my eye on a few cars to replace the Scooby; the idea being I'd get one this weekend.

The first problem was the Sprint broke down on Friday, 1/2 a mile from my house. then on Saturday, the first car I went to see was junk, and the second sold when I got there.

So I was forced to try and fix the Sprint to get me to work next week. compression was bit low on no. 2 so off came the head to investigate. No problems found. Turns out that the trigger wheel had slipped, sorted that. Problem now is that I have no new head gasket, no car to go and get one, and nowhere to get one from.

Nothing for it, but use the old one. So far so good, holds water, oil and 12psi. I'll let you know how long it lasts.

Anyone else ever used a used head gasket.

i have a few times but it never lasts, only ever do it when i fully intend on pushing the engine till something pops anyways so dont want to waste money on a new gasket. last time i drove to avon was on a re-used gasket :)

I reused the head gasket on my 16v head and forgot about it, problem free for 18 months at 25psi. Only removed when I stripped the engine. Didn't use it a 3rd time though
