I had a local company rebuild my transmission several years ago. Now, trying to put my idler gear in place, it fits fine into the bearing on the transmission, but does not fit to the clutch housing bearing (neither the new bearing I put in, nor the old bearing). Are the idler bearings for Turbo engines smaller in diameter than standard trannies (suspecting that the shop swapped out some of my parts!)...

I now have them pulling my new bearing and inserting one that fits... -sigh-

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

you may have an A series casing which will be smaller bearing size, and you may have ? A+ idler gear and gearbox

the A+ idlers are larger stubshaft on them the A series ars smaller dia,

you can get a conversion idler bearing kit so you can run the smaller idler off the A series engine in a A+ BOX
if that makes sense ? from mini spares
what do you have? exactley in your miss mash of parts ? in the good old
US OF A

Thanks, Benross.

I started out with a tired Metro Turbo motor, and am not sure now if what I got back post-rebuild of the transmission is exactly what I took them. I recall counting teeth to ensure that they had installed my 2.95 diff, but they may have just put that into another box they had lying around, not keeping track of my individual parts. The housing I'm using is different than the original one that came with the engine, but I still have the original housing and it has the same smaller bearing. So, I suspect that the gears were swapped. As long as it all fits together, I suppose it's fine. May be a problem if I ever have to do another rebuild, though...
