Just picked up a whole turbo motor it's a 12hc16aa.For the bargain price of............................. ?125:cool:

even got a dump valve and oilcooler with it:cool::cool:

Any idea what sort of oil pressure I should get spinning it over on the garage floor with the plugs out,Going to get a comp tester tommorrow but it seams ok with thumb over spark plug hole.Is there any other checks I can do before it goes in(without a strip down) as I don't wanna fit a pile of pooh

The used engine lotto......

You should certainly register 30-50psi cranking as the guys above suggest.

However it is oil pressure when cranking with the engine HOT that is more of a tell tale, if the shells are knackered you can sometimes get good oil pressure until the oil warms up and the viscosity and hence pressure drops right down.

The cranking test I suppose will let you know that at least it will run when you get it in, but until it gets hot you won't know if its any good or not.............good luck..........

Oil pressure 40 psi rising to 50 after about 10 secs, when stopped cranking drops to 20 pretty quick then slow down to 0.

comp test 13 bar (190 psi) cyl 1+2............8 and 10 bar 3+4 so pressume the head gasket is fooked between these 2.

Think It will be head off *frown*
