My newish clutch arm failed the other day, in the middle of town. So after much commotion and clutchless gearshifts I manage to get home. Now fittet an old original one my mate had lying around.

I have also just rebuilt a set of hubs with new balljoints as mine had play in them. The shit replacments needed so much shimming despite taking 2 other sets of hubs apart I still had to resort to leaving an extra lockwasher in each of the hubs to take up the slack. Needless to say they will not be fitted to the vehicle as I feel its a bodge and to be quite honest am worried at them failing due to poor material spec. if they cant machine them properly what hope is there of the material being up to spec?

What happened to the market for ordinary spec oe replacement stuff? stuff these days is either cheap and crap, or massively expensive and over engineered.

I had chinese on Wednesday night, gave me a bad gut and shits all day on Thursday.

i had a about 3 clutch arms go, niavity set in thinking each one was just a one of, then plumped for a force racing one.....no problems again!

There's a reason cheap Chinese shit is called cheap Chinese shit. It's cheap shit from China. To be avoided at all (low) costs!

Therein lies the problem; the market is swamped with chinese copies of genuine parts and quite often sold as genuine, so unless you actually know who the supplier is, good luck telling some things apart, until they fail of course.

I must admit, i have a small stash of about 3 preverto clutch arms which are BMC i reckon, so have plenty to keep me going!
But I know what you lads mean, sometimes it's impossible to tell things apart, until it breaks and it's made from what appears to be chemically treated cow pat.

It doesnt have to be chinese to crap either, the rubber bushes and stuff are an example i need some new tie rod bushes and mine was brand new minispares stuff

Ebay NOS stock is probably your best bet (but obviously still not guaranteed), I bought some top arm dust seals off ebay, and you can see the difference between these and the minispares ones.

Another reason why I have rose joint all my suspension now, all of my bushes have disintegrated to the point where they couldn't of been doing much. At least now when I get the geometry set up again I know it'll stay how I set it.
