hi all nice to meet you!!!!
i have a 1996 mini mpi and would like to upgrade the block cam rockers etc i have chance of a metro a plus 1380 block without pistons will this fit the mpi i.e gearbox head etc i know i have to blank off the dizzy hole and go back to the standard mini oil filter way etc but what about the sensers i seem to remember there is one on the back unsure? any how here is the spec of the block for sale!!any help will do many thanks chris

classic A+ series 1380cc mini/metro engine block with 11 studs not the usual 9.
It has been offset bored out to 73.5mm to maintain the centre bores wall thickness, the oil gallery plugs have been taken out and the holes tapped to take a taper threaded plug and the centre main cap has been milled flat and a strap added ( all as in the picture).
The engine block has been run.

p.s i am wanting 1380 only as its the max i can do with out sending the standard ecu nuts plus i will change the ecu later as its a lot of pennys for now!!!

I think I've seen this one recently on eBay....

Personally I'd avoid it but to answer you question, the MPI has a phase sensor (cam or secondary trigger) that goes in through the old fuel pump hole.

BUT - it needs to read off the MPI cam which has a special lobe where the fuel pump drive would have been.

ALSO - the MPI reads the crank position off the back of the flywheel from a reluctor ring that only exists on an MPI flywheel.

So, unless this engine has the right flywheel and cam, you have a lot to modify....

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

If you're looking for a performance increase purely from an overbore, then think again. You'll see little if any gain purely from an overbore, to get any real benefit you'll need a decent cylinder head & cam fiited to.
Where are you in the lakes ? I'm in Kendal. :)
