there's quite a few tips on 850s in both vizards books, the yellow one and the 'how to modify your mini' one as well. one day boost will be mine!

Didnt one of the mini mag have a an old race car 850 that hit 90bhp. I did think it was on the high side but something to aim for. I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

I personally wouldn't bother. Agree with this. You'll spend a fortune trying to get decent power out of an 850. If it was for specific race regs fair enough, but for a road car spend a lot less than you will on an 850 and go find a standardish 1275 and plonk it in.

most things that work for 998 will work on an 850. be carfull about cam changes as the 850's dont have cam bearings.

Yep no cam bearings the cam runs straight in the block mad idea. you can have it machined alot of the racers did but this is quite a complicated thing and might be quite costly. not to say you cant change the cam though. with raised compression and worked head bit better fueling it could be more fun. I have an 850 auto engine at my lockup now that must have been scary to drive lol My small bore turbo project http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php?p=vt&tid=473901 |
