Hi all I am new to all of this. I just bought a 71 clubman that has a turbo conversion. Now the motor is a 1293cc but is blown. The cam followers went bad and the cam has to be replaced. Now it comes with another motor that is a 1275cc. Once I get the car and parts to my house I will be taken the new motor apart and build it up for a turbo and pull the rest of the blown motor apart and inspect the pistons to see if they are any good. I have searched on here and still am so confused about this all as I am very new at building motors and have no idea what I am doing. I know a lot about Jeeps and can tell you just about anything about them but mini's it is all foreign to me. Now my question is if the 1293 pistons are good should I bore the 1275 to 1293? Or should I stay with the 1275 and what pistons should I go with? I heard of the Omegas here but are pricey are the others that I could go with that are just as good for less? This car will be a daily driver and might take it to the track a couple times this year if I can. So I am not looking for a lot of boost, but enough to have some fun. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd bore the knackered one to 1310 to save pulling a decent motor apart. On 7th Oct, 2010 5haneJ said:

I believe the guy told me the old block is bad so I won't be using that and have to use the 1275 anyway. Not sure how much It will be to take the 1275 to 1293 but I know a place that can do it here in Seattle. Where is the best place to get the omega pistons? What part # do I look for for the 1293 ones? 1991 mini cooper

10cc omegas would be my choice if going turbo, I have them in my own motor, med engineering here are the cheapest in uk, £300 for cast £480 for forged both plus p+p. Many people are using the cast omegas at 20psi + upto 240bhp (Robert uses cast iirc). upto you. For 1293 you want +20 (0.020") Edited by bennyy on 4th Apr, 2012. Audi s4 b5 - 470bhp & 486ft lbs
