From what I've seen (read), the T2 is the way to go.

You coud get a T2 adaptor plat to fit a T2 on the Merto manifold. You'll still need to cut the bulkhead.

I'm probably going to change to a T2 for the new TT

Just fitted a T2 to my car to replace the old T3. Made up an adaptor and fitted it to the Metro manifold.
The T2 is awesome !! i don't think my old T3 will be seeing any action in the near future ......

mirage mirage mirage

if you going to fit a t2, then why bother cutting the bulkhead and making an adapter plate?
if the money is available (or you have time to save) get the mirage kit

Mirage Kit, Why chop the bulkhead out?

For the time and money that you will spend buying a box, chopping, welding, painting and then adapting the metro manifold to fit. Makes the 300 for the manifolds seem like a great deal to me.

Its not just the manifold you have to buy though Sumpnut remember you need to get a T2 as well at which point you it could cost you anything from £50 in a breakers yard (if you are luck) to £300-£500 for a new hybrid T2 turbo.

It's been said many times before! Once you've driven a T2, you won't go back to a T3. Well worth it!

ok, so i have my bulkhead already cut, but i'm now on my 3rd 2nd hand T3, all have been screwed even tho sold as good. So i'm thinking i might just go T2/Mirage and screw the expense.

If you've already cut the bulkhead, and I assume you've got at least one metro exhaust manifold seeing as you've had three second hand T3's, why not save yourself £400 and use an adaptor plate to fit the T2 onto the Metro T3 cast manifold??

And thus Mike enters the second-hand-turbo-lottery for the second time!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only teasing, good luck finding one.........

I think the trouble with second hand turbos is that if anyone has any good ones, they tend to keep them as spares for themselves......

I got my T3 rebuilt at Turbo Technics in Northampton. Might be worth you buying the cheapest T2 you can find just to use as an exchange unit for a reconditioned one?

£50.

I had a mate from uni on a placement there, his boss let him do my turbo as a project for him to see a rebuild from start to finish. He freely admitted though that all he did was dismantle it and the guys at TT did the rebuild.

All he charged for was the parts, I was very lucky with that one.

I seem to remember turbo technics wanted over 300quid to recon my t3.

I found a perfect already reconned t25 in a breakers and got it for 100 quid, and the mirage manifolds for 300ish - slightly more expensive but belive me the t2 is worth it and i will not be going back

I may be able to get a new T2 for £250-300. If you are interested I will find out.

Had this before but ......a t2 on a metro turbo manifold?...sorted..why bother with a totally crap flowing exhaust "mirage" manifold when a stock item is so much better??..so what if you have to cut and weld the bullkhead, it is nothing a half decent welder can't do on a saturday morning with the prep done by yourself!

Mirage!!!!!..i am yet to see a kit in the top miniturbo ranks...
