Mine took 3 attempts to get right, but then again with hindsight it should only have taken 2!

In the process of making mine at the minute, finding very tricky, I made up the linkage from two fairly decent U/J's & extra piece of 1/2" rod, found that although it changes gear okay there is a lot of slop in it due to the movement in the roll pin at the gearbox end. Got two 1/2" rose joints which i'm gonna try and use as supports, will get some pics.

For every action there is an equal and opposite criticism.

Im finding the biggest problems slop in the last gearbox link and worn bushes in the selector housing and keeping the engine from moving

Exactly the same here, that's why i'm hoping the rose joints will support it, going to attach them to the original steady bar points.

Haha hears a quick pic of what i'm gonna try, think i've seen a couple of migs with at least the top rose joint support like it, excuse the precision cad drawing now...

Both the rose joints will have to be solid, top one easy as it'll bolt firmly to the housing, but bottom one i'll have to find a way of beefing up where it joins the back of the gearbox.

I have redone mine today as there was a slight bit of play in the in the linkage.

My old man made me a bush up for the front that I then knocked in with some retainer.

This has taken all the slop out so hoping for a more positive shift.

I have also used a bush on the gearbox end so it's a snug fit. This made a big improvement when I fitted it last year :)

Hope this helps I really link my linkage makes the car really nice to drive.

I haven't got round to making the linkage up yet but I made my own internal mount a few weeks ago.

I did exactly the same as Starmag and it worked a treat to take out all of the slop in the selector.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Matty I think it was yours I got the idea from *wink*

There is bronze bushes but they were fooked. It was cheaper to get the old fella to make me a bush :)
