I don't know of anyone on here that has the rear bulkhead rmoved, it is a structural part of the car, and most if not all racing regs require it present.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Have a look at this build. He's had an ally bulkhead made the same as the original. I think everyone on here than runs a different tank from standard, has it mounted on the boot floor.

I'll assume the car features a full weld in rollcage so.

Fit carbon boot floor and fit a nice wide low tank to that. Job done!

I made an ally bulkhead to keep the Avon scuitineers happy, but only removed it because I had a full cage

Edit: I had a safety devices Multipoint cage and where they mount to the rear arch isn't sufficient if you remove the rear bulkhead, mine would flex at the rear turret. IMO should only be done with a weld in cage to rear turrets

Does this mean that cutting out my rear bulkhead will ruin my life?

Just to bring this up, I've been on this topic as mine has been removed so to make an easier job putting in the full weld in cage, and I want to put a new bulkhead back in.

I want to make the main centre section from carbon and just use a lip around the edge a couple of inches wide in steel so I have something to weld to the shell to rivet/bond the carbon to, do you think this is the best way and does the modern gunk you use for bonding this stuff work well enough to survive the possible movement etc?

I'd put a steel brace across the top and across the arches. Them rivet on a large piece of alloy; nicely sealed to seperate the boot area.

Cheers for the ideas! Will be a bit fiddly going around the cage but not impossible, do you guys just bond to the inside of the rear quarters to make it sealed?
