Hello guys, im looking at paying £595 for this next years insurance on the mini - I think this is stupid!!

I paid £460 last year and now this year I have an extra NCB and its gone up by £135!?

Im 20
3 years license
3 years ncb
car is still a 998 (new engine isnt in yet)
no convictions etc

what do you guys pay?

Cheers

p.s. I tried adrian flux and got quoted almost 900. Do we get a tm discount with any insurers - the adrian flux quote was with clio16valver discount

Cheers

I just decided to insure mine separate to my traders policy to get an agreed value. Declared everything, stupid engine, de-seamed, mod suspension, mod brakes, mod engine management the lot. 13K agreed value. 3000miles p.a. Adrian Flux - £230

That's not that bad, mine was just under £500 when I insured a 998 at 20.
Keeping it on the drive is cheaper than in a garage I've found :S

500 is good...

Being 18 insurance companies automatically hate you, and think you're made of money...

Current insurance on a standard 998 is as near as makes no difference £2000...

It gets renewed in June though so hopefully a years no claims will help...

I'm 24 and just forked out £423 to insure mine with hic, could have got it cheaper with flux despite them being the same company or whatever it is. I am also covered if I smash it on a track day, which clinched that deal.

on the mini my insurance worked its way down to 450-500quid a year where its stayed for the last few years, that being said though my mini now compared to the 998 mayfair it used to be its well worth it imo

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

Agreed with Carl, I'm 18, 19 in May, my astra van is £1700 and my turbo mini was £2800 before I took it off the road, I'm hoping it will drop when I insure it again.

It's been a while since I had a Mini to insure but HIC were the cheapest by far. It was £320 with loads of mods, I was 23 at the time. When I was 20 I was paying just short of £500 to insure my stage 1 998 with some body mods, that was with Lancaster. I was also paying £600 to insure my Audi 80 2.8 quattro. I think what you have been quoted sounds cheap, I wouldn't have complained at paying that 5 years ago and we all know how much more expensive insurance has got in that time.

Me to be insured on my mini with planned mods and my convictions is only 620 with a put down value of 15k through hic, cheaper than my clio *oh well* that was with no volentry excess. What i have found is use one company try then a few times you will find it cheaper each time then after a while it will go up, if you save the quotes then you go for the cheapest jobs done

I hate insurance. My dailys a vauxhall rascal and my renewal quote was £622! Only paid £500 for the van and £460 insurance. I eventually got it down to £472. Im 28 with 7 yrs no claims and no points. Sucks to be in manchester.

im 21, 4 yrs no claims. 1275 cooper, living in London in a high risk area. I paid £430 last year comp with Graham Sykes who were by far and away the cheapest.

Off topic, I just purchased a Honda S2000. I'm paying £2180 at the moment totally standard BUT if I modified it, Graham Sykes would be able to insure me on it for £850!

How on earth can that be correct (it is before you ask, I double and treble checked I wasn't hearing things)
