Evening lads, just got a call of my lasses dad who lives in spain. He was watching a football match on his laptop through itv when a message poped up saying that the server is used for porn and paedophile images. His laptop then locked up and a message came on and said to unlock it he has to pay £100 to cybercrime@worldinternetpolice.net or in 24 hours his hdd will be wiped.

This ones been going round for a while, most people just wipe the comp to get rid of it. It's just a scam hoping to catch out people with a guilty conscience.

Boot into safe mode, once in go to run and type msconfig, go to startup and untick anything that hasnt got any decription. Reboot and the virus shouldnt run. In theory. 1/4 Mile 14.3secs 96Mph Terminal 10psi of boost.

I would do a virus scan when in safe mode. I use AVG anti virus, it is free and I think is pretty good. Edited by shaggy591a on 1st May, 2012. 1991 mini cooper

Use the the restore disk or file and make a clean start, If your not a tec head it will be quicker and you will end up having to do it in the end anyway, that's been my experience in the past, sorry.. Main Build

The "Police Trojan" appears to install itself as a fake Adobe Flash program and inserts itself in to the autorun section of the registry. It spawns a thread to kill any admin programs that the user attempts to run. Safe mode bypasses the running of autoruns so admin tools can be used to remove it. May be anti-virus programs will get rid of it too, perhaps malwarebytes (free edition) does? A detailed report for "Police Trojan" virus can be found here: http://blog.trendmicro.com/trojan-on-the-l...-police-trojan/ Good luck. |
