Sooooo I went out in the week in the mini, got the itch and turned up the boost. I did stop and switched the needle first. The car started coughing and ultimately ended up in what I think lead to the plugs being fouled.

Thanks guys - I've just ordered a set of champions as suggested. I'll report any findings. On 7th Nov, 2011 apbellamy said:

me and kean have always had issues with the 7's fouling easily, i've been running the same set of 6's for a couple of years now though with no issues. On 20th Oct, 2015 Tom Fenton said:

A spark plug won't cause det.

I'm mainly concerned about swirl in the runners caused by the tangential entry. |

Iam running a bit rich at top end (wot) down to around 11-high 10s afr on my aem which I don't mind at the minute as more boost should help sort this out but I think this is causing my plug problems to be honest

A spark plug won't cause det. The problem here is not the spark plug, it's the fuelling. I agree that the NGKs do not like to get wet and don't recover. But to be fair why should they? I use 7s in my road cars, never had a problem. I use 8s in the hillclimber. We've knackered a few over the years, but now the fuelling is right they are not a problem. |

NGK,s seem to last about 2k in my engine then they just "fade" -- a new set restores performance instantly.
