I've delved into the guts of a friend's gearbox while trying to sort out an idler gear/primary gear rattle and noticed that the main bearing retainer hasn't got the usual locktabs on it.
Metric is for people who can't do fractions. |

All bolts are retained by the stretch built in once tightened to the correct torque. Any 'locking' devices are purely a backup. So, as long as the bolts are tightened correctly, the spring washers will be fine. Steve

I use locktite on this, nothing more. On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:

Excellent - it's all back together and in the car now, so my decision to say Bollocks to it and leave them as they are is justified !
