Hello everybody !

After a long time I've finally found a donor metro turbo for 600 ?.

The car is complete and in good health apart two problems:
-the starter motor don't operate (not a problem)
-the engine refuses to restart when hot.

Do you have an idea of what is the second problem and how to fix it ?

I have still not bought the metro and I need advices to know if I will be able to solve the second problem before pulling the engine in my mini.
I prefer to solve the problem with the engine still in the metro because after having pulled it out of the metro I want to open it, to change the cam, worn items etc... before pulling it in my mini.

Thanks a lot for any idea.

Hello guys I'm from France and since my 18th birtday I 'm dreaming of a turbo engine in my Mini. I'm here to do it !

The re-start problem is nothing to worry about - it is easilly fixed with making sure the carb vent valve is working, that there is sufficient ventilation above the carb, and maybe by adding the cooling fan from the R5GT or 1300 Uno Turbo...

For 600 Euro's (£410) I'd say buy it - they aren't too common in France I suspect???)

also if the previous owner has fitted wrong type of spark plugs as they have heat range ratings, the little codes you see on plugs are the thread size, heat range, and lengh.
the ones in the motor might have the wrong heat range this will course the problem you described.
if you havent bought the motor, make shure you take it for a spin first then,
check the oil if its white coloured the head gasket has gone.
also see if you can pop the air pipe off and get you fingers or the turbine to see if theres any play.
also look out for black smoke chuffing out of the exhuast.
