276 cam a waste of time, I'd go for at least 10:5:1 compression if you can live with running on optimax.

Work out the volume of the head then work out how much needs to come off the block.

But personally i'd have the pistons flush with the deck.

Mine with a 285 was a piece of piss to drive round town, only a low comp 1275 with weber too.

My current 1380 with even bigger cam is a piece of piss to drive.

Honesty I fitted a 276 cam and removed if after 16 miles and fitted the 285!

Tb its for a mate whos skint so he carnt afford a cam (i donated the 276) so itle stay at that for now at least.
Its only guna have twin 1.25 su's on too.

Atm the pistons sit around 3mm down the bore :-S ive dun a c/r work out and it came out at 8.9 which seems too low for an n/a to me?

You could skim the block and use 998 push rods if the rocker angle is all to cock. Not sure how much shorter they are though.

You need to get the CR up, preferably by skimming the block. 3mm is shitloads.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

I was disappointed with the 276 personally.

a camshaft is a personal choice.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the 276 if your not looking for big HP numbers.

I ran the 274 injection cam with 1.5 rockers on the 1400 which gave 100lbft at 5600. Gave 80lbft from about 3500 to7000rpm.

3mm off the block in reallity is fuck all, but you will strart to run into problems with pushrod lengths dependant on how much the head has been skimmed.

Are you 100% sure that the pistons have been machined down? Could it be an offset ground short stroke crank of 78mm?

Just don't let the CR fall below 10:1

You'll need new rings anyway, so instead, I'd get some new pistons....

It was alright but not as good as expected.

short hieght pistons are about 1.8mm shorter than a standard height piston, which normally sit ~1mm down the bore, therefore, short height pistons could indeed sit ~2.8mm down the bore on a standard block.
