Everybody seems to have different opinions on this. You can get proper SU oil. I have used 3 in 1 in the past but am currently using 20/50.

i used fully synthetic in my old na 1380,

was told that it didn't change its characteristics as it got hot, it did need topping up fairly often though!

stp oil treatment its supurb and only need topping up ocasionaly

i did use 3in1 and have just put 20/50 in, now i have a popping on overrun, why's this?

I use 20/50 or gearbox oil in the turbo. But a much thinner oil works better in an NA motor. Well that's my experiance.

Because the thicker 20/50 means the dashpot piston falls more slowly when you shut the throttle, meaning the mixture stays rich, hence your popping noise as the fuel burns.
