Somewhere around Swindon

Bertie the dirty mini30 has an odd starting problem

when cold it will just spin over without a hint of starting yet it will bump start very very easy and sit and idle no problem

if its hot it starts on the button

any ideas

i had this same problem, changed the dizzy cap n rotar arm and sprayed some danp/cold start stuff all over the engine bay.

Check the 12V feed to the coil when starting. As it's a ballast resistor system it should have a seperate 12V supply when cranking. It's a wire direct from the solenoid.

If its below (say) 6V when cranking you're probably not getting the 12V supply and the coil will be struggling.

was the rotor arm it had become loose on the shaft replaced and it starts well now
