my first atempt at making a manifold for my 998 turbo looked ok but has cracked in 3 places after less than a 1000 miles. i used a old LCB and a mig welder to make it, any suggestions on how i could make it better/ stronger??? thanks neil

Sounds like more of a welding issue than a design issue, would need pictures to confirm but probably just not enough penetration.

Also the materials used where probably not up to the job. I doubt an LCB was designed to bear the load of a turbo on it.

A little bit of searching on here will reveal that using an LCB as the ex. manifold with a turbo will result in it cracking.

Bin it and start again with thicker wall tube.

Much thicker material and I shall still put a support under the turbo.

thanks guys! i have been to a local exhaust fitting garage today and they can get a meter length of tude that is 1.6mm wall thickness, will this be better? and what diameter will i need?
