Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

Standard dizzy for economy is 28 Max advance. ...... but depending? On your engine spec its between 19 and 24 degrees. To safegaurd your engine. ......in general.!!!!!!

Its a little more complex than the above.... depending on many factors. ... compression, boost fuel intercooler efficiency. Etc...etc.......

Hope this helps

Hi,

thanks for your answer!

The question is about std Turbo spec.

But my Engine has a slightly modified Head with std Compression and Bastuck 2" exhaust.

I thik the head is to much ported for my engine (+20 Pistons, std cam and still with ECU-modulated Boost).

Now i want to put a more std head just with cleaned ports and chambers on. And now, i´m looking for a starting point to adjust the ignition.

If your running standard boost and standard compression I would set to 25deg, obviously I take no responsibility if it goes bang.

Thank you.

Just to understand the timing a bit more:

when more boost, more ore less advance?
when less compression, more or less advanve?

Thanks,
Enne

Depends to what extent you are talking. But in general more boost = lower compression + less advance.

For example, a couple of years back I ran 12psi on 8.3:1 on 25deg. with a cosworth 2wd intercooler, and it was fine, although it was winter and air temp was lucky to be 5 or 7degrees.

There are so many variables, afr, outside air temp, intercooler efficiency, fuel quality, fuel octane, the list goes on. This is why its hard to tell you where to start, your best bet is to be safe with timing boost etc and get to a rolling road and get it set up.

Ahh, i understand.
Thanks.

I spoke with a guy here to take my Mini on the RR, but he said, he won´t tue it, because he can´t conect his computer with an carburettor.

By the way, i´m in Germany. Here aren´t a lot people who understand Mini Turbos.

less CR = able to run more advance,
less Boost = more advance
more boost = less advance ( on same CR)

you should run 24/25 deg MAX advance on a standard engine/ standard boost

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

a std engine with 8.1CR is very not standard
18 psi is very not standard
you cant guess figures like that..
my answer is get on a dyno where the operator knows what he is doing
