Trying to connect my new TV to the internet and its asking for a proxy address and port number, does anyone know how I get this info?

I seriously doubt it!

what other options are there on the TV for connecting to the net, you ideally want something relating to DHCP where everything will be done for you, or somewhere to enter a router/gateway address. It's very unlikely you will have a proxy setup at home.

you shouldn't need it if you just have a normal internet router. leave it blank and see if it works

Its not working. I have the TV wired to the wireless router via an ethernet or LAN cable, the connection test on the TV confirms connection but when I press the internet button a message comes up saying 'communication with the server failed.(005)'
I have no idea since Im a bit dim with this sort of thing. Reading the manual on how to setup a network it asks for this proxy crap.

Any ideas?

I seriously doubt it!

set the proxy as your router address and use port 80

to get you router address, if you don't know it open a command prompt on your pc/laptop (type cmd in a run box or it's in accessories on the start menu)

type ipconfig and it is whatever number is next to "default gateway"

p.65 of the manual, on the IP/DNS Settings menu make sure that you have the Acquire IP Address & Acquire DNS Address set to Auto.

Leave the Proxy details empty.

you could also try using a different LAN socket on the router as sometimes some of the ports can be reserved for things (without getting technical) and might not has DHCP on that socket.

That made no difference either, the Panasonic support online doesnt seem to help either

I seriously doubt it!

On p.66 of the manual, how far down that list is ticked on a Connection test?

My guess would be that its failing on the 2nd item 'Check aquired IP Address'?

Manual for anyone else with ideas:

I never noticed any differance between the ST and GT models. I know the GT has a certified pic but I found it less rich and more false than the ST. So I saved the cash and went for te ST and I love it.

As for size I wen with the 3x rule. however I wish I had overruled the wife and went for the 50.... :)
