Hi Chaps

Since selling the charged mini im looking at starting a new project and really like what i have seen/read about the K Head engines.
I understand that SC are the people to speak to with regard these but before I do i was wondering if there is much difference between the 8 and 16v heads (apart from the obvious 8 valves) and if there is much difference in the work required for conversion for each type.

Thanks
Andy

the amount or work is vertually the same, i think i'd go 16v fo that extra bit of pep...

a 1380 8v will make approx 105-110hp, and a 16v is more like 125-130 assuming the hotter 16v cams.

8v is quite torqey and cheaper to build, 16v heads are 300ish nowerdays and 8v 150-200ish that i have seen. I have an 8v in my second bedroom atm which i have been doing a small amount of port work on and i have to say its a nice compaft package as it has the injectors in the head instead of the tbs/inlet tracts on the 16v

Drives

Good point, i had forgot about the development Force had done, this was with Colin if IIRC.

I fancy building one but it will likely be over the next 12 months. Are they easy enough to turbo in the future? I would like something in excess of 150bhp and 100lb/ft

the hard part to turboing them is the manifolds....

SC now do a billet plenum thing thats meant for their charger kits but will do the trick to get the boost in from a turbo, but for te exhaust your on your own still, although madmatt in aus does turbo kits.

also the 8v has racy cams, probably a bit much for turbo at 285 deg, although you might get away with it if your using ITB's rather than a single... the 16v had 250 odd degree cams or 280 odd degree depending if it was the LT or RS.
