This is the control unit for the coilpack.I experienced a progressive misfire, with the tacho also losing signal.Traced it to this unit and replaced it.Seems to be sensitive to heat, needs a good heat sink, and I've also been told to use a special gel between the unit and heat sink to improve heat transfer.Anyone had similar problems?

I've fixed mine direct to the bulkhead - I take it I should make up an aliminium plate to mount it to?

The fiesta mounts to a chunky part of the body as is the mini bulkhead it may well be good enough...but they are heat sensitive and cooling will only help

Thanks for the input.I have been running with an ally plate, but maybe too near the hot bits.Sounds like it's a non-mini problem if most of them use a bulkhead mount.

Check all the connections and plugs Steve, ... check the crank sensor is close to the pulley. And the crank pulley is not coming loose......

Steve, I had all these problems, as well documented on here.

I,m sure it was all down to poor connections, particularly the earth connections, which should all be common to all the MJ stuff.

I use a large ally plate to mounts EDIS, coil pack, etc etc etc.

The RC signal seems to be particularly sensitive and I have switched connections several times to get a consistent result.

Hi David, thanks for this,I am inclined to think a poor connection is involved, but that I probably goosed the original EDIS as well. The well known 2 problems syndrome.

My car ran like a bastard some times then fine at others. Turned out the crank sensor was knackered.

I dont think that a faulty crank sensor would affect the RC signal ?

Just been to Shakey for the day,7runs (crap times but that's another story) and the engine never missed a beat all day.
So I am inclined to think that I 'cooked' the EDIS unit where I had it located previously.
Ambients today around 26C but coolant max 92C,intercooler outlet 45C.*happy*
