I know many people have been trying to crack the 200bhp from an a series turbo ever since Matt Woods did, well now it looks as if there is a new target,

Matt now has over 240bhp! Well done mate!

Thanks Jim *blush* But I cheated. *blush*

I got sick of the lag on my car after I've been out on T3s 1380 turbo, I realised that my cars was REALLY slow at spinning up. (well I known that for years lol) anyway the offer of a N2o kit came up over the winter and I thought what the hell, this might help my lag.

Once I fitted it, I took it for a spin and I made a little difference which was great as normally things that should work on my engine don't always. So now it spins up about 500 rpm sooner :)

The plan is to have a switch that once I get to a few psi it will turn the gas off. I spoke to my rolling road chap and said IF the switch falls Can we do a test run with the gas On full boost to see if it holds, then if the switch falls I know my engine shouldn't blow, as it's a small amount of gas i might not no it's still on. So that's where the extra power came from. I'm using the smallest jets I can get for the kit (35 bhp) as I don't want to blow things up and it's to dame pricey to keep filling the bottle!*crying*

thanks wolfie, i just feel that any one can go and get a kit and use say 150 bhp jets and get good power out of there engine, that's why i feel it's a bit of a cheat.

Brilliant! Nitrous anti-lag! I read about this idea in Vizard and always fancied trying it out one day.
Re: the switch failing, you could wire up a light on the dash from the gas solenoid so that when the solenoid is energised (e.g. putting gas into your engine) it lights up. That way if it did stay on permanently you would know about it?

Or just add a second switch (or even a third) set a few psi higher than the first!

Go for it mat but be careful not to make it an A series grenade *frown* and get hurt!

Mat i think the way to go would be get a variable pressure switch from RS radio shack they do a nice selection form 0 to 30 psi with small increments of 0.1 !!*smiley*

Place this near the plenum and fit a micro switch to the carb and a master arm switch in side the cab with a light like you have.

So you arm the master switch then run this through the micro switch on the carb so it only makes a circuit when its on
(full throttle position.)

Then through the pressure switch

so you arm the circuit as usual with the light on

the Nos only comes on full throttle if the pressure switch senses off boost say under 2psi or were ever you set the pressure switch to.?

You have full control, this way would reduce the lag to nowt *happy*

you can drive as normal ie. Just on the blower and then through the Nos system
when you arm it this gives you full control with the right foot.

Am I making sense or is that Bo****s

That makes sence, but lots of NOS at high load - low rpm is dangerous!

he aint running loads just a squirt, with a low cr off boost even at low rpm shouldnt do any harm at all.

It is an interesting idea. Once the turbo is driven into boost at whatever revs, it will then self-sustain boost.

An example, back to my turbo diesel again, but works on any turbo...

Normally comes on-boost at 2500rpm. Below that figure it is very VERY sluggish. Driving along under full load at 2000rpm up a hill, it won't accelerate enough to get on boost. Slipping the clutch a bit whilst under load allows the revs up enough to spin the turbo, when the clutch is released again, the revs bog down to 2000rpm, but the turbo is now spinning enough to make boost, so it then starts boosting before the threshold at which it usually would. Using a squirt of Nitrous (I refuse to use the term 'NOS' it is like calling a vacuum cleaner a hoover) has the same effect by all of a sudden there being a lot more gas molecules impinging on the turbo, hence boost is reached at lower revs than would normally be the case.

thats right chaps a short load of nos, say for 1/2 second or so say a shot of 25hp would spin the turbine up off boost

almost instantley*wink*

When the pressure switch hits the limit what you have set it to say 2 psi boost it knocks the nos off

only to fire in again OFF boost under the above setting 2psi on full throttle on the microswitch

would save masses on the nos money and give you
*happy* NO LAG!*wink*

the added expence of the pressure switch 35 quid and the micro switch 5quid and some wire !

you have all to gain *happy**wink*

I sold my kit when it was banned for class-d at the showdown. Decided to concentrate on pure turbo-charging improvements instead.

Im going to be having a go at a small N2O anti-lag setup in a few months time. Done a bit of searching around and can source all the bits for about £150. If anyones interested I can dig out the shopping list and contact numbers.
