HI,

i know pwople modify the standard clamp etc and i hear they are not the best for sealing etc, in my work i occasionally use the heavy duty clamp in the picture below.

Has anyone ever used this or similar. It is basically a v clamp with a hinge on one side and an m8 nut on the other. i have trial installed in on my elbow and downpipe and it gives good even clamping.

They are desiged for 2" od pipework so have enough clearance. the only thing i can think is the wing nut does stick out a fair bit but nothig a grinder or replacing with a normal nut won't solve. they are stainless and cheap also.

i will take a photo of my downpipe and post when i can.

any thoughts from you knowledgable chaps, do you think it will do the job or am i being a tight git and should just buy the noraml one.
